Sports Club of HARP


P1015734.jpgThe idea of creating a sport club «HARP» belongs to President of UPEC Anatoliy Girshfeld, who has played table tennis professionally since his student time and takes part in rating tournaments.

President of UPEC Anatoliy Gershfeld: «Sport is that sphere of activity which helps a man to develop more harmoniously. Because sport is not only health but an opportunity to endure more easily the hardships that confront us in this hard life. That is why I like sports and enjoy doing it at leisure. For example, in winter I like mountain skiing. My favourite kinds of sport are: big tennis, basketball and table tennis. In the first two I have sport grades, and I play table tennis at the level of a Candidate to Master of sport.

I think, in Ukraine this kind of sport has good perspectives. But so that young people may want to play table tennis they need support. That is why in 2004 on the basis of a table tennis branch of Kharkov region physical culture and sport school we organized a sport club «HARP».This club is leading in table tennis in Ukraine». The team of sport club «HARP», bearing the trademark of Kharkov Bearing-building Plant, is a permanent participant and winner of Ukraine Championship among teams of super league in table tennis.

There are several teams in the sport club «HARP».

  • combined women’s team , playing in the Super League of Ukraine;

  • women’s team, playing in the Upper League of the Ukraine Championship;

  • men’s team of juniors, playing in the First League of Ukraine (14-16 years old).

The Chairman of the sport club is Leonid Segal – a repeated Champion of Ukraine and prize winner of International competitions, winner of 2006 World Championship in table tennis among veterans.
